The Rainbow Dragon
Today, I thought that I would tell you a fanciful story of dragons. From the records of Zadie herself in the infamous, Al Hayat Mejnoona.
This was the period known as the Great Darkness in the Enchanted Forest on Wahid and in Al-Bidaya. This period ended with the separation of the two different kinds of creatures.
There were those who were created by the shapeshifting gods, Zadie and Houb and were nothing like those of Umm Kul Hayat, the mother of all life. They were the ones who were to remain in the Enchanted Forest. Broadly known as the enchanted creatures.
The ones who appeared to be like those who only had come from the creation of Umm were given the remainder of Wahid. Broadly known as the non enchanted, although that’s not exactly correct. There’s always an exception to the rule.
There was a stunning dragon, Tanine who lived in a cave high above a valley with their companion Saida Houb. Being a dragon, Tanine longed to be where they were around other dragons. Unfortunately, there weren’t very many dragons left and they were spread around the world.
They spent their days with their non enchanted friends and enjoyed the beauty of their valley. They sent letters to other dragons and received them to remind themselves of who they are. It helped but they were still lonely.
One day Zadie flew into the valley to visit her friend Tanine. Zadie was sad to see their friend so blue. Or should I should say down? They were in fact always blue with iridescent blue and green scales along their normally sleek and agile body.
Today they weren’t delighting the residents with their aerial acrobatics like usual. Zadie flew throughout the valley before they checked by Saida Houb’s favorite pond. She loved romping through the pond with her other dog friends. Today was no exception.
Tanine was sitting nearby, looking glum. Tanine didn’t speak much but they were even more so today. Zadie tried everything to cheer their friend up. She made silly faces. She told stories and incorporated props from nearby. She pretended to walk off in a silly pout.
Zadie was about to give up when she decided to go the logical route and simply ask them.
What is wrong my dear Tanine? You look so sad.
I am fine. I just miss seeing others like me.
Zadie sat down to try to think of a solution. An early thought was to simply change into the form of Tanine. Unfortunately, Tanine didn’t want a clone.
They were all in such intense thought that they didn’t notice the foot of snow that now surrounded them. Saida Houb was the first to notice. She started howling with laughter and rolling around on her back. Zadie had returned to her raven form and looked like a speck of coal in the snow.
Zadie then looked at Tanine who was also covered in a mound of snow. Instead of laughing herself, she had gotten an idea. When Tanine and Saida Houb finally calmed their laughter just long enough to spot Zadie, they stopped in their tracks to take in the new form of Zadie.
She was now a dragon like her friend Tanine but she was also uniquely herself as well. She was all white to blend into the snow but her scales were iridescent. They changed colors in the light to every color that ever was or ever will be because Zadie loved them all equally.
From that day forward, whenever Zadie visited her friend Tanine in the Enchanted Forest, she became the White dragon with the rainbow scales to soar high above the valley and delight in the aerial acrobatics that they performed for their ever astounded friends.
