A Reprieve With Dead Time

A Reprieve With Dead Time
Darcy Mohamed

I’m still alive, Hamdulillah! Thank God!

When the executioner arrived, he ordered me back inside. I complied and met with the director of the Secret Service. I was told that Uncle Sam wanted to hear the remainder of my story. I was given a reprieve.

I was taken to a spacious apartment in a high rise building on the 9th floor with bars on the windows to prevent escape. The windows and door open though. If I require anything, the agents posted outside the door will assist me. They assured me that I couldn’t escape. Only the dedicated agents and Uncle Sam would be able to see me or even be on my floor. I was safe from any outside forces.

The kitchen is fully equipped and stocked so that I might cook whatever I desire. My few belongings were placed in the apartment for me. I was told that if I wanted anything, the agents posted outside would provide it for me without delay. I’m not allowed any phone or internet access though. They gave me a button to wear so that if I need assistance and can’t get to the door, I can push it for them to enter.

The agents introduced me to the few female agents who occupy neighboring apartments. They offer me companionship so that I don’t become lonely, bored or insane. They are very nice, friendly, supportive and understanding.

I was told to make myself at home. Uncle Sam had business to attend to so I had some dead time. I had access to the outside as I wished. Armed female agents had to accompany me though. There would be trained snipers monitoring my movements and those of others near me. The female agents who accompanied me pointed a few obvious ones out and said that one gets accustomed to it.

I was left alone and got some much needed rest. When I awoke, I began cooking and organizing the apartment to suit me. I have invited my female companions to dine with me. We have shared much of our lives and foods with each other. It has been wonderful. It feels like a new lease on life. I know that it’s only a temporary reprieve though.

I am told that Uncle Sam will return in two weeks. I am busy preparing the feast for his arrival with some of the foods he liked best and a few new ones that I hope he will enjoy.

I have been truly blessed to have given my people more time to prepare and escape if possible. I don’t know how much longer I will be able to stay alive and keep Uncle Sam from killing more women because of his fears. Every day of life is a blessing though. I am trying to stay focused on saving my people because

Every life matters, especially yours.

God bless Nebraska and especially Her people.

I am proud of my unique American identity. I am a proud survivor of human trafficking and a fighter for the abused and vulnerable of all kinds. No human should ever know the horrors of enslavement nor abuse of any kind. We MUST end the cycle of abuse. There is no greater gift we can give humanity.
