I find it fitting that the 25th anniversary of that horrific tragedy is on a Friday. It would be considered great luck because khamsa or five is a blessing. 5 khamsa is 25 or five great blessings. It is also Jummah this afternoon, Islam’s congregational prayer. A most holy day along with the Jewish Shabbat this evening. I say in the words of the three major monotheist religions what all faithful prayed for on that horrific day,

Shalom.

Salam.

Peace.

That is what all of humanity cried out for then and now. Inshallah we will have peace soon. It comes when we are all truly free and say that we are sorry for the past and will ensure that it doesn’t happen again. That is repentance and atonement.

On this most solemn of days I ask the world for their forgiveness for any harm I have caused them, even the prick of a finger. It is never my intention to harm any.

I also forgive all who have caused me any harm, even the prick of a finger. I always seek peace and understanding. The criminal court system and the actions of others are out of my control though.

I ask God to forgive the sins and increase the good of those who are no longer with us. Amin.

For the survivors, first responders and military, I salute you for all you have endured and continue to endure. I only wish that our government had done far better by you. You certainly deserved it. Thank you for your service and sacrifice as well as that of your families, loved ones and communities.
