My Freedom
On February 6, 2026, I entered Lifehouse, a homeless shelter in Fremont, Nebraska as a thoroughly defeated victim of human trafficking. I couldn’t hold my head up at all. I isolated for three days. I was terrified of everything and everyone.
I emerged on February 9, 2026 and tried my best. I found that I felt safer than I have since 2019 when my dad died. Staff and residents showed me the cameras with the security measures in place. It was better.
It was the men here though who let me know that they were men. They would never let anyone hurt me. They told me that I would never and have never done anything to deserve any of the abuse that I endured.
I am safe. I am loved. I am finally home. I am finally free.
May God bless, comfort and protect those who have helped me earn my freedom and begin my life again.
