Government is NOT a Business

In my accounting studies there were different rules for various organizations. Businesses were at the forefront but banking, charities and government agencies had different goals and rules that varied from for profit businesses. This is why I don’t understand why politicians tout their business acumen and say that they run our government like a business. The goals of each are completely different and opposite of each other in most ways. They do converge in practices where businesses truly thrive, putting the people first.

The long held belief that profits are more important than people is a fallacy. We need only look at the true measure of the health and wealth of any entity or even family, the intangible assets. These are what savvy investors and entrepreneurs look at above the more short term gains of dividends or stock prices.

In my current situation, the Fremont Housing Authority wisely decided to invest in me although my once excellent credit score of around 800 has fallen to the low 500’s and my tangible assets fell from $500,000 to mere pennies. I ruined my financial reputation to escape my enslavement. This is horrific in reality and as an investment but merely temporary.

My intangible assets are far more valuable and the true measure of me as an investment than the tangible. My physical and mental health are improving at a rapid pace due to successfully treating my ME/CFS which permanently disabled me in 2008. I have the opportunity to continue getting better and will hopefully be able to return to the workforce. This is a far better investment opportunity than it otherwise would be because of it.

America as an investment opportunity has steadily declined due to the erosion of our intangible assets. We have alienated our allies and appeased our enemies. We have lost our goodwill, influence and moral authority in the world.

We have not invested in our decaying infrastructure, environment, affordable housing, healthcare, education, welfare programs nor our own people. We have given in to the demands of for profit conglomerates and people who merely seek profits at all costs with tax breaks, contracts and various other incentives to conduct business in our country at the expense of our people.

It requires courage and commitment to invest in our intangible assets during good times and especially during bad times. It is how we grow in health, wealth, strength and power. It is how our economy and nation grow stronger in reality and for the long term. Investing in ourselves, our people and our communities is never a bad thing when done properly. We need to do more of it rather than less because

Every life matters, especially yours.

God bless Nebraska and especially Her people.

I am proud of my unique American identity. I am a proud survivor of human trafficking and a fighter for the abused and vulnerable of all kinds. No human should ever know the horrors of enslavement nor abuse of any kind. We MUST end the cycle of abuse. There is no greater gift we can give humanity.
