My Appeal to the Unicameral

My Appeal to the Unicameral
Darcy Mohamed

Dear Sir or Madam,

My name is Darcy Mohamed, a human trafficking survivor. I reside in Fremont, Nebraska, the small town where I was taken on September 13, 2022 with my mother. Our traffickers and their associates remain free, living beside me. I have been repeatedly attacked, harassed and even put into paralysis because I spoke out about what I endured and those involved.

While it would take longer than a letter to explain the horrors I endured before, during and after my escape attempts, most people consider human trafficking to be the most heinous of crimes. Human traffickers strip a person of their humanity. They make them slaves who must do what their masters want or bad things will and do happen.

I am highly intelligent, skilled and knowledgeable in various subjects. I would’ve been a great asset for our traffickers if only I could be turned. Unfortunately for them, I was raised by my beloved daddy, Lance Corporal Ronald Kibilko, USMC, Vietnam, a Purple Heart recipient who taught me the necessary survival skills along with other veterans of foreign wars, including the POW/MIA. I lived amongst asylum seekers and refugees from places where terror was government policy and enslavement hope for survival. I am a Muslim American who heeded the advice and warnings of the FBI about how terrorists are created after the horrific attacks of 9/11. We fought for the souls of our own communities to protect our beloved country.

I knew much about human trafficking including the causes and solutions long before being taken. Our country and world have created conditions that allow this inhumane industry to flourish. I am grateful to have prepared for being taken throughout my lifetime. It meant my survival and ability to write to you once more.

I wrote to many, including yourself in late January of 2025 telling my truth through the massive amnesia, flashbacks and hopelessness of my situation. I had yet to realize or come to terms with the fact that we were trafficked. I merely said that we were exploited, abused and my mother murdered. I said that I had confidence that DHHS would eventually do the right thing.

I have received no assistance whatsoever from any governmental agency. I have had to help myself to survive while warning others, being housebound and severely traumatized by not only what I endured but the ongoing abuse and loss of what little remained of our assets that were over $500,000. I am grateful for what little assistance a case manager, Miss Amanda Schwanke from United Way could provide. She has been a great blessing since we met in November 2024. She is the only reason I am alive today. That is my reason for writing.

While my situation is different than many survivors, absolutely nobody deserves the enslavement and torture that is human trafficking. I would like for you, who writes the laws and policies that govern our great nation to explain to me, your constituents, our nation and the world how you would do better so that this flourishing, inhumane industry can be eradicated from our nation and world. We survivors, our supporters, law enforcement and our nation deserve answers, justice and the peace of mind that the horrors of our past aren’t likely to be repeated.

Your prompt reply is appreciated by your fellow Americans, survivors and especially myself. When a known human trafficker holds the office of President, your response and support are vital to us all.

Thank you,

Darcy Mohamed

I am proud of my unique American identity. I am a proud survivor of human trafficking and a fighter for the abused and vulnerable of all kinds. No human should ever know the horrors of enslavement nor abuse of any kind. We MUST end the cycle of abuse. There is no greater gift we can give humanity.
