I can’t say that I am surprised by the lack of care, concern or understanding that Senator Ricketts showed in his generic response. It is heartbreaking though. It even took him over a month to do what amounts to absolutely nothing for a victim of the vilest crime imaginable, human trafficking. I am sure that his family and constituents, especially my fellow women are incredibly proud that he treated me and other survivors with such disdain.
I spoke with a woman I knew in rural Georgia about my situation. We both couldn’t understand how Nebraska’s leaders could do such harm by ignoring me and therefore the horrific crime. We didn’t think that anyone, especially the leaders of Nebraska could be so cruel, callous and cold hearted.
When I hit such vile brick walls, as I have with Senator Ricketts and countless other elected and non elected officials, I have no words. I am screaming but no sound will come out. I am becoming numb to the depravity of humanity.
I’m just a nigger slave woman. Right, Senator Ricketts? I guess that even us Middle Class, White women are so far beneath you that we are only good on our hands and knees, serving the likes of you and your ilk.
I am a proud American though. We fight against tyranny, injustice, corruption and oppression. My mission doesn’t end until I give my final breath in service to God and country by standing up to those who subjugate us. There is no greater purpose than that. Unlike Senator Ricketts, I understand that
Every life matters, especially yours.
